OUTREACH

What is Outreach Ministry

At Bright City Church, the goal of outreach is to shine the light of Jesus and share the love of Jesus with people in our city and around the world who are suffering and in need. The Bible makes it clear in both the Old and New Testaments that honoring and following God means taking care of anyone who is poor, oppressed, hungry, abused, a foreigner, and those in need of justice, for he loves them all. Outreach is all about loving and serving Jesus, by loving and serving our neighbors - wherever they are and whoever they are.

Dorothy Coppit

Outreach Coordinator

Dorothy is an educator, adventurer, and lifelong learner who founded and directed a school with a passion for inspiring others. Her happiest place is in the ocean—snorkeling and swimming with wild dolphins whenever the opportunity arises. A lover of travel, she’s ridden camels, explored Israel while leading an Israeli folk dance group, and trained in Krav Maga, the Israeli martial art. Whether she’s deep into a good book or preparing for her next journey—like walking an ancient pilgrimage route in Spain—she brings curiosity, courage, and joy to everything she does.

How We Serve

Partner Organizations

Partner Organizations

There are people and organizations already doing great work across the Raleigh-Durham area and beyond. We want to come along side of them because we believe in the strength of the community working together.

To this end, we partner with several fantastic ministries to help meet many different needs. These include helping refugees, mentoring at-risk teens, welcoming international students into community, and helping families who have been homeless move into stable housing.

Small Group collaborations

Small Group collaborations

We invite every person at Bright City to engage in this work in the context of their small group because we believe serving our city is a critical part of our spiritual growth and formation.

We ask every small group to adopt a partner organization to pray for and serve alongside of throughout the year. This takes our discipleship beyond community and connection. It moves us into action to impact our city.

Church Planting

Church Planting

We believe strongly in the impact that a life-giving church can have in a city and we want to see that impact multiplied! For that reason, we support the work of planting new churches all over the country.

Out of our desire to see the multiethnic Kingdom of God built up, we prioritize our commitments in church planting to those who share this value and who are working to bring racial and ethnic healing to their communities in the name of Jesus.
